How Many Books Do I Read Per Year?
I read a lot, and then I realized I didn't know how many books I read on average per year!
2025 is drawing to a close pretty quick here, and as it does, I'm starting to make my year-end lists: favourite songs, favourite books, and of course, I will be reporting soon on how many books I have read total this year.
2025 marks over a decade of me doing the #ReadWomen challenge, and I was kind of worrying that I was falling behind a bit on my reading goals. I did a comb through my old #ReadWomen-related blog posts and it actually seems I'm on track for a decent year of reading.
Below is a breakdown of how many books I have read each year, and, if available, how many of these books were written by an author who is not a cis man. It looks like I can never clear 60 books, with both 2020 and 2022 tied for my most-books-read-per-year at 59 each!
2014 - 18 books total
2015 - 42
2016 - 52 (50 by someone other than a cis man)
2017- 38
2018 - 43
2019 - 47
2020 - 59
2021- 48 (42 written by someone other than a cis man)
2022 - 59 (56)
2023 - 42 (33)
2024 - 53 (48)
A touch of quick math tells me that I average 45.5 books per year, and have read 501 books total in the years 2014-2024 (not including this year's total so far as the number is still changing!)
