Resource Round up: Free Therapy/Counselling/Self-help Resources in BC

Here are some free therapy resources if you live in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia!

I recently did a post on free online education/courses that was quite popular, so now let's try a roundup of another type of free resources: therapy! Therapy is expensive. I am lucky that, in my industry, we have access to decent health care benefits, including therapy and mental health supports.

I won't lie though, if I didn't have these benefits, I would not be able to afford regular therapy, as is the case for so many people.

As such, I wanted so share a few free resources where folks can get access to counselling, therapy, mental health support, etc --spread the word!

Library Books

This is perhaps a bit of a cheat, and remember, your local library will have tons of self help books (both in physical book format and in audiobooks!) that you can access for free! Here are some of my faves to get you started:

  • all about love by bell hooks
  • The Courage to be Disliked: The Japanese phenomenon that shows you how to change your life and achieve real happiness by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga
  • What Am I Missing?: Discover the Four Blind Spots That are Holding You Back, and How to Overcome Them by Emma Reed Turrell
  • How to Be Enough: Self-Acceptance for Self-Critics and Perfectionists by Ellen Hendriksen, Ph.D.
  • Rise Sister Rise by Rebecca Campbell
