Canadian Quotes: Megan Gail Coles

On July 29th we celebrate Megan Gail Coles!

Iris no longer feels feelings fully. She knew the red tulips inside the grocery store florist cage were her favourite. So she bought them, brought them home, trimmed and placed them in a clear glass vase atop the table and stared at them, knowing they held beauty but not feeling its presence. Cut flowers were a joy for her. She attempted to purchase this joy even though she could not afford it.

But she had to have something to hold her in place.

About this series

Every day this July, the yak occidental is posting a quote from a book by a Canadian writer to celebrate Canada Day on July 1st. Celebrating Canada is complex, and we must remember the violent and genocidal history our country is founded upon.
