Winter 2015 Playlist + Introduction

Back in December 2015 I had a revelation thanks to this fine mix over at Bitch: Winter Playlists. 

As silly as it sounds, my mind was blown. Much like the classic summer playlist, you can make a winter playlist (and one for every season, mind you) that is focused on the season, not the holidays in this season.

So, every year since then (except 2019--didn't make one last year for inexplicable reasons) I have made a Winter Playlist. They contain songs that seem suited to cold weather and yes, I have snuck a few festive songs in there as well.

Since December 2020 is the year of all years, I have decided to share my Winter Playlists since 2015 here on the blog! Like many of you, my holiday season is going to look radically different from years past, and I won't be able to celebrate with family and loved ones as usual. One of my coping skills is to make playlists, so sharing mine during this usually-festive time of year feels like a way I can give you something merry and bright to share.

9 Reasons Why Zack on Gilmore Girls is the Worst

Of all the men in the Gilmore Girls world, I think Zack was the worst. Here's nine reasons why. I'm currently re-watching Gilmore girls for the umpteenth time, and once more I find myself loathing Zack in particular. Normally we all get caught up in Luke vs. Christopher, Dean vs. Jess vs. Logan, etc, but I think these debates distract viewers from realizing that Zack is the worst Significant Other of all the women in the show. I think the actor Todd Lowe does a great job portraying Zack, so my critique is def not his performance , my issue is the  character of Zack   who is sooo contemptible. Omg She's Racist: A Closer Look at L.M. Montgomery's Work & Life

They say to be critical of the media you love. I put this to the test with my undying love for L.M. Montgomery. In the past five-ish years, I have read and re-read many, many books by beloved Canadian author L.M. Montgomery (aka the woman who wrote the Anne of Green Gables series) including: Anne of Windy Poplars*  Anne’s House of Dreams*  Emily of New Moon  Emily Climbs Emily’s Quest  The Complete Journals of L.M. Rookie Mistakes: Innovation vs. Being Uninformed

While innovation may be admirable, it can come off as looking incredibly uninformed. A common, rookie mistake I find in Vancouver’s animation industry is new crew who come in swinging with new ideas, suggestions, and innovations, clearly keen to make their mark on things. While this enthusiasm may be admirable, it can often come off as looking incredibly uninformed and unfocused. The animation industry in Vancouver is a creative one, full of extremely talented, innovative, and inspiring artists. Every studio does things differently, and you may find that some studio cultures are more or less a better fit for you and your working style. Remember that even if you may come into a new role with inspiration and a fresh perspective, you must stay focused on the job you were hired to do.  For example, if you’re in Production, do that, don’t get caught up in planning the studio Holiday party.
