Here are my fave shows to watch every winter, especially around the holidays.


Neo Yokio: Pink Christmas


I really loved the super short-lived anime-style series Neo Yokio on Netflix, I was even Helena St. Tessero for Halloween a few years ago. 

The Christmas special that ended the series was great, I watched it over and over and over when it first came out (I was sick in bed). Neo Yokio is sad and lonely...


Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter's Tale


Ep 11 of the first season of CAOS was this funny little holiday special. A little creepy, a lot silly, cozy and witchy, it is a gem for me.

I love this music video - just a woman, alone at Christmas looking glamorous. I deeply relate, especially this year.


Gilmore Girls Season 2, Episode 10: "The Bracebridge Dinner"



While not technically Christmas, I just appreciate this episode centring around an insane celebratory winter feast where the entire Gilmore family and Stars Hollow community is at their best.


The Shining dir. Stanley Kubrick



No, I'm not kidding. Kubrick was a monster (not in a good way), there is racist dialogue, and I am Team Shelley all the way. This is a wintry movie and again, the isolation of the family is especially relevant this year. 


Scott Pilgrim vs. The World dir. Edgar Wright


What can I say, I'm a sucker for the fact it's set in Canada, all the snow, and general antics. All of their parties and sad apartments remind me soooo much of my early twenties.


The X-Files Season 6, Episode 6: "How the Ghosts Stole Christmas"




Who doesn't love the Haunted House episode of any given mystery/thriller/sci-fi series? This one combines this classic trope with holiday spirits (literally) as we see Scully and Mulder once again capitulating to their ever-entangled tendencies on Christmas Eve. Plus, Lily Tomlin is one of the guest stars in this one.

Of all the men in the Gilmore Girls world, I think Zack was the worst. Here's nine reasons why. I'm currently re-watching Gilmore girls for the umpteenth time, and once more I find myself loathing Zack in particular. Normally we all get caught up in Luke vs. Christopher, Dean vs. Jess vs. Logan, etc, but I think these debates distract viewers from realizing that Zack is the worst Significant Other of all the women in the show. Here are 11 tips for taking better notes in dailies. If you’re in Production, good note-taking practices are essential and it never stops. As a coordinator, you might take notes for dailies. As a Production Manager or Producer you might have Production reports, all of these tasks rely on good note-taking.  A huge part of our role is data entry and management. Getting specific, let’s take a look at what you can do to take better notes in lighting/comp dailies. Even if your artists are in dailies, still make sure your notes are as specific as possible, don’t leave it to them to take their own notes, let them have that time to answer their supervisor’s questions or to focus on the feedback.  Let me be very clear: if you are in production and you are taking notes in dailies, it is your job to take accurate, efficient notes. Who needs work-life balance when you can 'Drop the Ball' or put your priorities 'in conversation' with one another? With the onset and endurance of the COVID19 pandemic, there have been many hot takes and disturbing changes in work-life balance. All over North America at least, we have seen women drop out of the workforce at such an alarming rate that many experts are calling this pandemic-induced trend a “shecession”. In animation, we have fortunately been able to work from home, though the balance between work and life has become a lot more blurred, if existing at all. Production staff and supervisors have observed a rise in ghost hours - people quietly logging on and working on their shots or assets at all times of the day, night, weekends because our work is well, there .
